Open Educational Resources Grant Awards Nine Projects in 2024 Cycle

The recipients of the 2024 cycle span a wide variety of disciplines, with projects ranging from open textbooks to interactive assignments. When completed, all materials will be openly licensed and freely available to the public.

Updated Sign In Experience Beginning June 12

On June 12, the University of Kentucky will update the Single Sign On service used to access sites and applications across campus. Users will encounter a new sign on screen and will be prompted to perform steps for multi-factor authentication through the Duo system. The change will affect a variety of UK Libraries systems, including InfoKat and the OpenAthens platform.

Ruth Bryan Receives Paul A. Willis Award for Outstanding Libraries Faculty

UK Libraries is proud to recognize exemplary faculty member Ruth Bryan as the recipient of the 2024 Paul A. Willis Outstanding Faculty Award. Bryan serves as University Archivist at the UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center, where she has worked since 2011. She will be honored at the annual Spring Celebration on May 16.

Dr. Paul Evans Holbrook, Jr. Honored with UK Libraries Medallion for Intellectual Achievement

UK Libraries is proud to honor Dr. Paul Evans Holbrook, Jr. as the 2024 recipient of the UK Libraries Medallion for Intellectual Achievement. A man of many talents, Holbrook’s professional life has wound through the academy, the ministry, fine printing, and even restauranteurship. At every stage, his warmth, passion, and a commitment to the ideal of excellence in all things has guided his success. Holbrook will be recognized at the UK Libraries Spring Celebration on May 16.

When Gato del Sol crossed the finish line in the 1982 Kentucky Derby, he was the first horse to ever win the race from the far outside post position. In the latest episode of Saving Stories, Stone Farm horse breeder and owner Arthur B. Hancock III tells the story of using the Pythagorean theorem to calculate the perfect ride from this disadvantageous starting position. It's a similar scenario that this year's favorite, Fierceness, is facing this Saturday.
