To celebrate Dr. Birdwhistell’s life work and build upon his remarkable contributions to the University of Kentucky and beyond, UK Libraries has established the Dr. Terry L. Birdwhistell Endowment and aims to raise an additional $500,000 by the time he is officially inducted in September 2025.

Researchers hoping to visit UK Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center next year may be eligible for fellowship funds to cover their domestic travel expenses. The Claude Sullivan Research Fellowship is open to researchers whose work would benefit from onsite access to archival materials housed in UK Libraries’ collections, including the Big Blue Sports Archive and materials on the legendary sportscaster Claude Sullivan.
