Both the Margaret I. King Library and the lower level of the William T. Young Library will be closed for renovations beginning May 11, 2026.

We look forward to providing updated spaces and services for our campus and community users and appreciate your patience as we work to relocate library resources and services while renovations are in progress.

King Library Renovations

A multi-year renovation of the Margaret I. King Library building will begin Fall 2026. The project will affect access to services at both the Special Collections Research Center and the King Library Annex. To prepare for this project, the facility will be closed to the public at the end of the spring semester and remain closed for the duration of the renovation. For more information on service impacts, see our King Library Renovation update.

Young Library Renovations

Lower Level: The basement level of Young Library will undergo renovations throughout the summer and fall of 2026. To prepare for this project, reservations for basement meeting and event spaces have been discontinued as the lower level must be vacated prior to construction. With the exception of the GIS Labs, the Young Library basement will be closed to the public for the duration of the renovation.

Roof Replacement: In addition to the basement-level renovations, a partial roof replacement is scheduled for Young Library this summer. With these construction projects occurring simultaneously, increased noise throughout the building is unavoidable. There may also be occasional odors that permeate through the HVAC system. We are working closely with the campus Facilities team to minimize disruptions where possible.

Access/Service Impacts: Additional information on affected services and access points is provided below. We’ll continue to update this page as information about the project becomes available.
