The Margaret I. King Library closed for a multi-year renovation project in May 2026. Library services normally provided by the Special Collections Research Center and the King Library Annex have been relocated to other campus libraries while the renovations are in progress. We look forward to the opportunity to modernize this central campus landmark and appreciate your patience as service speeds may be slower or some physical items may not be accessible during the renovation.

In-person research assistance usually provided out of the Breckinridge Research Room will be available in the Little Fine Arts & Design Library.

Teaching collections of maps, archives, and rare books have been retained for instructional purposes.
Requests for library instruction using primary source materials should be made two to three weeks in advance.
Digital scholarship and data services provided by The Stacks will be available in Young Library during the renovation.
The King Library Press will continue operations in Young Library beginning Fall 2026.
Many of the circulating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics materials previously held in the King Library Annex have moved to the Young Library stacks and can be requested through Infokat.

With the exception of the Aerial Maps, materials in the Gwen Curtis Map Collection previously held on the Fourth Floor of the King Library Annex will be unavailable during the renovation.

With the exception of our rare books, most special collections books will be unavailable during the renovation.
