Can you write, film, and edit a movie over a single weekend? Put your cinematographic skills to the test during the 48 Hour Film Race!

The race kicks off on Friday, March 28 at 6pm in the Student Media Depot in the Basement of William T. Young Library

Participating students will draw four film elements out of a hat – a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue – and then set off on their mad dash to movie magic. Films will be turned in 48 hours later, on Sunday, March 30 at 8pm.

Form a team with other movie makers or embrace the avant garde as a singular cinematic auteur. All participating students are required to attend the kick-off meeting.

During the kick-off meeting, all participants will have a chance to tour the Media Depot to learn about the recording equipment, sound booths, and specialized editing stations available to teams during the race. The Media Depot will be open from 12pm to 6pm on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, and employees can offer assistance with equipment and other technical support.

On Friday, April 4, all participants and the UK campus community are invited to a film screening and award ceremony featuring all the completed films. A panel of judges will give out prizes and superlative awards and announce the winner of the Best Film.

The event will be held in the Young Library Auditorium at 6pm.

We hope you will join us for one of the most exciting weekends of the year. Please contact Robby Hardesty at rhardesty@uky.edu with any questions.
