UK’s historian; Kentucky’s keeper of stories: Terry L. Birdwhistell passes away at 72

Terry L. Birdwhistell – former Dean of Libraries and William T. Young Endowed Chair at the University of Kentucky, who was considered UK’s historian and one of the country’s pre-eminent oral historians – passed away Sunday after a brief illness. He was 72.

Jennifer A. Bartlett, Oral History Librarian at UK Libraries Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History, has been named the new editor-in-chief of Kentucky Libraries, the peer-reviewed quarterly journal of the Kentucky Library Association, beginning in 2023.
