Butler Education Studio

The Butler Education Studio is a self-serve maker space offering free craft and paper materials for projects and paper displays in our Education Library.

Our large collection of craft tools includes:

  • AccuCut dies
  • Cricut machine
  • Button maker
  • Laminator

Craft kits and Lego kits are also available for checkout.  

A Formlabs Form2 3D printer capable of producing complex and highly detailed objects is available to students and faculty on an appointment basis. For more information contact Jeretta Robinson at jeretta.robinson@uky.edu.

King Library Press

Located in the Basement of the Special Collections Research Center, the King Library Press offers lectures, one-day workshops, and apprenticeship opportunities to students and community members interested in fine printing and the book arts. 

Training is required to operate the equipment, which includes:

  • A 1927-29 wooden common press built by Victor Hammer and Ezio Pratesi in Florence, Italy
  • Four cast iron Washington-style hand presses
  • Three Chandler & Price flywheel-driven presses
  • Modern Vandercook Universal I and Vandercook SP15 presses
  • A Sigwalt tabletop press

The Press is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from morning to early afternoon.
