UK Libraries is seeking self-nominations for the Earle C. Clements Innovation in Education Award for Civics and History Teachers.
Three civics, social studies, and history teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky will be selected for the Clements Award and will receive $1,500 each.
The award recognizes teachers with a marked impact on student success, who display great creativity and innovation in the classroom and show an unflagging enthusiasm and commitment to increasing student awareness of the importance of public service.
Applications are due Friday, May 29. Find more information on award criteria and submit an application here.
Winners of the Clements Award will be celebrated at an awards dinner in August.
The Clements Award commemorates the late Earle C. Clements and his lifelong commitment to education and public service. UK Libraries is proud to honor Clements’ legacy through annual fellowships, awards, and events, all of which are made possible by the generous gifts of his daughter, Bess Clements Abell, her husband Tyler Abell, and their two sons, Dan and Lyndon.
In 2016, a $500,000 gift from the Abell family established the Earle C. Clements Memorial Endowment Fund. The fund is used to support the Clements Award, organize the annual Earle C. Clements Lecture-Symposium, and further UK Libraries’ programs in public policy, government, and archival research.
