Mitchell Scott, Coordinator of Collections Strategies Librarian, was featured last month on the Charleston Hub's Against the Grain podcast.

In the episode Monographs and Libraries: Delivering Value to Users, Scott joined Christine Haynes, Professor of History at the University of North Carolina and David Givens, Director of Resource Acquisitions at Brown University Library.

Their conversation covered the value of monographs and the role libraries play in meeting faculty and student needs, affordability initiatives, format preferences, measuring value, and balancing student space with browsable shelves.

The Charleston Hub is the home of the annual Charleston Conference, an informal gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials in Charleston, South Carolina to discuss issues of importance to the library and scholarly publishing landscape.

The Charleston Hub is also the home of Against the Grain Media, which reports on the annual conference and publishes digital content that links publishers, vendors, and librarians by illuminating the issues, literature, and people that impact the world of books and journals.
