Karyn Hinkle is the visual and performing arts librarian at the University of Kentucky Libraries. She has been interested in art and design, books and publishing, written and visual communication, and related fields for her whole life, and she combines this experience in her profession as an arts librarian. She has worked in art libraries for over 15 years, including positions at the Brooklyn Museum Libraries and Archives, the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture, and Northwestern University, focusing on collecting library materials for arts research, and on outreach and engagement with art libraries. She holds a master’s degree in library science from the Pratt Institute, and a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Kentucky, and she feels honored to have returned to her alma matter as a librarian member of the UK faculty in 2016.
