The Gwen Curtis Map Collection

The Gwen Curtis Map Collection, located in Margaret I. King Library, which is currently closed for a multi-year renovation project, includes 250,000 paper maps and aerial photos. 

Highlights from the collection include:

• Current and historical aerial images of Kentucky counties
• Sanborn fire insurance maps of Kentucky cities
• Current and historic Kentucky city, county, and state maps
• Topographic maps of all 50 states
• WWII-era international topographic maps
• International geologic maps

With the exception of the Aerial Maps, materials in the Gwen Curtis Map Collection will be unavailable for in-person viewing during the renovation. Digital copies of select Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, campus maps, and other historical maps are available via ExploreUK.
