General Collections

Through UK Libraries, clinicians, researchers, faculty, and students have access to a vast number of databases and other electronic resources for teaching and research across the health sciences, including:

  • E-books and general and specialized journals
  • Major bibliographical and reference sources
  • Point-of-care decision support tools
  • Government agency and other organizational resources
  • Indexing and abstracting tools

Explore our Health Sciences Databases and Health Sciences Research Guides to find electronic resources and learn more about our collections.

Our collections include many data sources that explicitly permit text and data mining, including several American Association of Cancer Research journals and the Journal of the American Medical Association, along with access to several health-related open data sources.

Special Collections in the Health Sciences

We also provide access to rare and unique collections to support research in the health sciences, including:

  • Records of the Frontier Nursing Service
  • Early 19th-century medical books from Kentucky
  • Oral histories and interviews covering healthcare in Fayette County and Appalachia and the history of the UK College of Medicine
