Step aside, Mega Millions – as part of UK Libraries’ celebration of Love Data Week, we are holding an ORCID iD lottery for a chance to win one of three UK Libraries-branded prizes!

If you're feeling lucky, submit your ORCID iD here to be entered into the drawing.

The contest is open to anyone with an ORCID iD, including faculty, staff, post docs, graduate students, and undergraduates. The submission form will open on Monday, Feb. 12 and the drawing will take place following the Chronicling America API Workshop on Friday, Feb. 16.

Winners will be contacted via email, and their names will be posted on this webpage.

What is an ORCID iD?

An ORCID iD is a free, unique, and persistent digital identifier that connects you with your work and distinguishes you from every other researcher. Your ORCID iD creates a permanent, clear, and unambiguous record of your research and scholarly contributions, and is supported by thousands of institutions, publishers, and organizations around the world.

An ORCID iD will help:

  • Make your work discoverable
  • Distinguish between you and other authors with identical or similar names
  • Link together all of your works, even if you have used different names throughout your career
  • Make it easier for funders to find your research outputs
  • Streamline submissions to publishers, grant funders, and associations who use ORCID

Create an ORCID Account

Registering for an ORCID iD is a quick and easy process!

  • Visit https://orcid.org/register
  • Fill in the required fields
  • Make sure to include a personal email address in the "Primary" or "Additional Email" fields
  • You will be provided with a 16-digit number – this is your ORCID iD!

Use your ORCID iD on your webpage, when you submit publications, apply for grants, and in any research workflow to ensure you get credit for your work.

For more information on ORCID iDs, please see our Graduate Student Library Resources Research Guide.
