Audio-Visual Collections

The Audio-Visual Collections contain still photographs, moving images, and sound recordings, including studio, institutional, and family photographs, local radio recordings, and television and independent film collections. Major collections include:

• John C. Wyatt Lexington Herald-Leader Photographs – over 26,000 digitized photographic images spanning the years 1939-2001
• Lafayette Studios Photographs – over 17,000 photographic negatives, primarily covering assorted scenes of downtown Lexington from the 1920s to 1950s
• African American Photographs – primarily portraits, across a wide variety of photographic formats
