Borrowing from UK Libraries

Once you’ve found an item you want to borrow, bring it to the Circulation Desk for check out. Be prepared to present your UK WildCard ID or current UK library card. Distance Learning students can request a library card using this form.

Renewing Borrowed Items

You can renew your books and other materials online using InfoKat Discovery:

  • Sign in using your linkblue credentials (UK borrowers) or your library card barcode as your username (non-UK borrowers)
  • Select "My Library Account"
  • Open "Loans" to renew all or individual items

You may also renew materials in person at most campus library locations.

If you do not have your password, you can reset it online, at any library, or by calling (859) 218-1881. 

Loans Periods, Item Limits, & Policies

Loan periods, item limits, and policies may vary depending on the borrower and which UK Library holds the material on loan.

For most items, loan periods are as follows:  

  • Non-UK borrowers have 84 days total
  • UK Undergraduate Students have 126 days total 
  • UK Graduate Students have 270 days total 
  • UK Faculty/Staff have 600 days total 

Need the item longer? If you still need an item after the last renewal, bring it back to the library. We will check the item in and then check it back out to you, as long as it has not been requested by another user.

Returning Library Materials

Borrowers may return loaned items at the Circulation Desk of any campus library during regular hours of operation or deposit the item in a book drop box.

After hours drop boxes are available at the following locations:
