University of Kentucky Archival Project Awarded Project STAND Grant

The University of Kentucky Libraries and Latino Student Union new project Wildcat Histories: Preserving Activist UK Student Organizations Legacies aims to preserve the social media of student organizations as well as execute an outreach initiative with 15 additional BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or non-Christian religious student organizations. 

This past month, this project was awarded a grant from the Project STAND organization dedicated to digitallly preserving analog and digital collections of student activism in marginalized communities. They have awarded this grant for the project to use Latino Student Union digital archival records as a pilot for developing procedures and guidelines for preserving social media. 

The University congratulates Hispanic Studies & Political Science Librarian Taylor Leigh, University Archivist Ruth Bryan, and Director of Digital Services Sarah Dorpinghaus, for leading efforts in development of the project.
