UK Libraries Helps Launch Affordable Learning Task Force

An Affordable Learning Exploratory Task Force for Kentucky launched earlier this year under the auspices of the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL). With the initial focus on undergraduate education, the Task Force aims to develop recommendations for expanding the availability and use of low- and no-cost educational materials in the Commonwealth.

Senior Associate Dean of Collections Mary Beth Thomson and Director of Digital Scholarship Adrian Ho serve as UK’s representatives on the Task Force. Other members include colleagues from KYVL, Eastern Kentucky University, Murray State University, Northern Kentucky University, and Western Kentucky University.

The Task Force will identify models, resources, and technologies that will facilitate the affordability of college learning materials statewide. A report will be submitted to the KYVL Leadership Team in May 2021.
