The Special Collections Research Center collects Kentuckiana comprehensively. Our collection includes rare and unique materials documenting the history and culture of Kentucky across an extensive variety of formats and spanning a broad spectrum of subjects, including county histories, Kentucky biographies, books, pamphlets, personal memorabilia, cookbooks, photographs, and much more. Highlights of the collection include:

  • J. Winston Coleman Scrapbooks – microfilmed scrapbooks containing newspaper articles, photographs, and documents relating to Kentucky history, assembled by historian and noted collector of Kentuckiana J. Winston Coleman
  • Samuel Wilson Collection – print materials relating to the settlement and history of Kentucky, including numerous examples of frontier printing
  • Belinda Mason Papers – plays, poetry, short stories, and novel of Eastern Kentuckian author and AIDS activist Belinda Mason
