REVISIONS OF STATE PLAN FOR KENTUCKY FDLs

Article IV. Goals & Outcomes of the KY State Plan for FDLs (five)

F. Depository Library Relationships and Cooperation

Goal One:
To provide federal depository collections and services to all library patrons.

OUTCOME:
Patrons will find the information they need in all home congressional district depositories.

Suggested assessment procedures:

  • On a DL satisfaction survey, __ % of respondents will indicate that they were able to access depository collections and services in their local districts.

  • On the same survey, __ % of those surveyed will indicate satisfaction with the collections and services available in their district.

  • Compare provision of services among districts - count number of ILLs, intra-depository referrals, and patron training sessions.

Criteria for assessment: All services provided are equitable among depositories in the various districts.

    Goal Two:
To ensure that all depository libraries follow the State Plan for KY FDLs.

    1. Each depository library will abide by the policies and procedures found in the document, Instructions to Depository Libraries (GP 3.26:D 44) and established by the Regional Depository Library. (See Appendix B link to RDL Instructions)

    2. Each depository will implement a select number of goals set forth in the State Plan.

    3. The Regional Depository, depository librarians and staff, and depository library directors will be informed on all matters related to the State Plan and its obligations, as well as on FDL governing regulations.

Suggested assessment procedures (apply to all three outcomes):

  • Count references to SP goals in each library's annual report.

  • Document instances of compliance with established guidelines in annual report.

  • On an informal survey of depository librarians, __ % will be able to locate a copy of the State Plan.

  • Count and record the number of corrective measures undertaken by the depository library between GPO self-studies/inspections.

  • Count number of signed Letters of Agreement with State Plan.

  • Record annual number of logons to Regional Depository's web site.

    Goal Three:
To provide statewide support for depository library operations and services in Kentucky.

    1. The Regional Depository will keep depository libraries informed of changes in DL personnel, organization, policies and procedures that might affect them.

    2. Depository librarians will be able to discuss operational and service issues in established forums on a periodic basis.

    3. The Regional Depository will fulfill its federally prescribed mission and role with the assistance of the depository libraries.

Suggested assessment procedures (apply to all three outcomes):

  • Total listserv policy/procedure announcements on annual basis.

  • Tally Biennial Survey of FDL results related to Regional Depository support services.

Criteria for assessment: __ % of KY FDLs are satisfied with the level of operational support provided by the RDL.

  • Track annual membership in KLA/GODORT.

  • Record attendance at GODORT business meetings and workshops.

Criteria for assessment: Minimum of one representative from each KY FDL is present at one roundtable function per year.

  • Identify and tally number of topics discussed on KYSELECT on an annual basis.

  • Count number of RDL-provided support activities.

Criteria for assessment: Establish baseline date; RDL will meet/exceed number of activities each year.
