DRAM: Database of Recorded American Music

Description:

Provides on-demand streaming access to CD-quality audio (192kbps Mp4), complete original liner notes and essays from independent record labels and sound archives. Focus is on recordings that have been neglected by the commercial marketplace.

Currently DRAM's collection contains nearly 2,000 albums (15,000 compositions) worth of recordings from a set of 15 independent labels. The basis for the current collection is the catalog of American music recordings by New World Records. Coverage includes folk, opera, Native American music, jazz, 19th century classical music, early rock, musical theatre, and contemporary and electronic music.

DRAM also includes music from other contributing sources, including the CRI, Albany, innova, Cedille, XI, Pogus, Deep Listening and Mutable Music labels. In the future, other major and independent labels and archival sources will be included in the coverage.
