Ways to Give to the UK Libraries

Being the leading research library in the Commonwealth of Kentucky comes with a great responsibility.  UK Libraries must provide comprehensive access to information essential to the University's land grant mission of improving people's lives through teaching, research, health care and service.

Today UK Libraries has facilities that hold nearly 4 million volumes, more than 31,000 periodical titles, and access to almost 46,000 electronic journals.  This vast resource of impressive knowledge is available to University of Kentucky students and citizens across Kentucky and around the nation.  Private gifts from UK alumni, friends, parents, students and others are critical to the success of UK Libraries.

You can support the mission of UK Libraries in a number of ways:

Direct Gifts of cash, by check, credit or debit card have an immediate impact. Make your gift online by credit card and remember to designate your gift to UK Libraries.

Send gifts by mail to:

Office of the Dean
1-85 William T. Young Library
Lexington, KY 40506-0456

Matching Gifts may be supported by your employer. Find out if your company makes matching gifts.

Endowments provide perpetual income for the Libraries and can be established for almost any purpose. New endowments require a minimum gift of $25,000 and can be named in memory or honor of a family member or friend. Established endowments can be added to in any amount.

Major gifts of $25,000 or more qualifies you for membership in the UK Fellows Society. Gifts may be designated by the donor for immediate use or for endowment and can be paid over a 5 year period.

Estate and Planned Giving may be a way for you to support the Libraries while also reducing your burden of income, capital gains, or estate taxes. These kinds of gift include bequests, charitable trust, and charitable gift annuity, gifts of real estate, appreciated securities or life insurance policies. Learn more.

We are happy to hear from UK alumni and friends who are interested in UK Libraries.  Contact the Director of Development for UK Libraries, Greg Casey, for more information.
