Search InfoKat for a specific newspaper.

• Use the title of the paper (if known), such as Lexington Herald Leader
• Use keywords if the city, county or state is known; such as +Lexington +KY +newspapers

Find Historical Newspapers

Search InfoKat for a specific newspaper.

• Use the title of the paper (if known), such as Lexington Herald Leader
• Use Subject Headings if the city, state or country is known, such as Lexington KY newspapers or France and newspapers
• Search databases that include backfiles of newspapers (see newspapers research guide), especially American Periodicals, 19th Century Masterfile, Early American Newspapers, Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers, Google News Archive, and Local History Index (Kentucky) for older coverage; some of these resources provide indexing only--others provide indexing and full-text.

Search the Kentucky Newspaper Microfilm Ordering Database for a specific Kentucky newspaper.
Not all Kentucky newspapers available for viewing are included in this database, however (e.g., The Lexington Herald-Leader and the Courier-Journal); if you do not find the Kentucky newspaper you need, check with the Reference Desk or Periodical Desk in Young Library; if we do not own the paper, a librarian or you can check WorldCat to see if another library has the issue you need.

The microfilmed newspapers are available for viewing in the Periodicals Department.
