Update

Medical Center, William T. Young Libraries Now Open

UK Libraries has begun reopening campus library facilities for the fall semester. To create safer shared spaces and resources, some changes to library services are necessary. Here's what you can expect when you make plans to visit the library this fall:

Protect. Respect. Do your part.

UK Libraries is excited to welcome students and faculty back to campus, and we are committed to doing our part to help keep our community safe and healthy. Procedures regarding public access to library facilities have been guided by the University of Kentucky's restart plans outlined for the fall semester.

Four Main Library Service Changes

Facility Hours & Operations

Libraries will be operating with reduced hours to facilitate a more rigorous cleaning protocol. In order to provide space for proper physical distancing, overall seating capacity will be limited, and group study and meeting rooms will be unavailable for the fall semester. Onsite service in each building has been condensed to a single point fashioned with a Plexiglass shield. Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and gloves will be available at each location.

CDC-approved face masks or coverings will be required in public areas in accordance with UK's campus-wide policy. Commonly shared items such as public computers, dry erase markers and erasers, cables and similar materials will not be available in public areas or for checkout.

Additional information about visiting your favorite UK Libraries' library is available on our Service Updates page.

Online Services & Resources

UK Libraries encourages you to continue taking advantage of our NO OR LOW CONTACT SERVICES AND RESOURCES. Librarians are online to answer questions seven days a week through UK Libraries' chat service ("Ask Us"). Online appointments and instruction sessions with UK Libraries' academic liaisons may also be scheduled.

Visit our Electronic Resources page to explore a variety of UK Libraries' online materials. We are also offering Grab-and-Go pickup of print materials at William T. Young Library as a low contact alternative for in-person browsing and borrowing.

Looking to return print items? Please use the designated book return outside your nearest UK Libraries location. Print materials are quarantined for 72 hours between handling.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to create shared spaces and resources that respect the health and well-being of library patrons and personnel.
