WorldCat Local (WCL) is a Discovery Tool, which is a tool that lets you search for a variety of materials like books, articles, DVDs and more – whether UK owns it or not – using a single search. Use the “facet” links on the left panel to refine your results, to show only books, or only material from 2013, or only peer-reviewed articles, for example. Results include our local holdings information, so you can see which campus library owns a book and whether it is checked out or not. Found a book UK doesn’t own? Request it through InterLibrary Loan! Found an article with full-text available? Access it right through WCL, using UK’s GetText button!
Because it searches material from our catalog simultaneously with databases like JSTOR, Medline and more, WCL is a great first stop for new students or anyone searching a new topic. WCL also has useful tools, like the ability to create lists of books that you can manage online. You can also create citations in APA, MLA or whichever style you need for your paper, just by clicking a link on your search results.
