Description:

Catalog of all publications of the United States government, including those of the Congress and all executive departments (with the exception of administrative and confidential or restricted documents).

For current access (from 1976 on), use the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications from the federal government (available for all users) or InfoKat Discovery.

Includes both keyed full-text records and page images of the original printed catalog. Search for keywords across all issues or during a specific period, find documents by individual or corporate author, or search any of the other fields included in the records. Each issue can be browsed chronologically from the Browse tab, and many of the fields, including Title, Author and SuDoc number, can be browsed from the Search screen.

Use Superintendent of Documents (SuDoc) number in each entry to locate material on shelf in library.

Vendor Name Chadwyck-Healey / ProQuest

Coverage 1895-1976

Special Usage Notes

Prior to 1925, these index entries do not include SuDoc numbers. Users will need to use the printed Monthly Catalog (GP 3.8:) in the SuDoc Reference collection to locate the SuDoc number for individual items. There are also numerous transcription errors in the keyed entries, so users should verify the accuracy of SuDoc numbers by checking the actual scanned image in this database if they are having difficulty locating material on the shelves. As a Regional Depository, the UK Libraries will own most of these titles, especially those that have a black dot beside the item number in the scanned image.
