Sometimes the books, journals or audiovisuals you need are not available in the University of Kentucky Medical Center Library (MCL). We may not own the items, or they may be checked out or at the bindery. We are happy to request such items for you via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Every attempt is made to obtain items as quickly as possible. You should, however, allow up to two weeks to obtain documents via ILL. RUSH service is available for patient care emergencies.
UK faculty, staff and students use their UK Wildcard as their library card. Persons not affiliated with UK may obtain a library card if they are 18 years of age and present a valid Kentucky driver's license or a valid non-driver ID. Faculty, staff, and students from reciprocal colleges and universities in Kentucky may obtain a UK library card with proper identification. Anyone with a UK library card may check out materials in the Medical Center Library or any UK campus library.
The Medical Center Library sends library notices via e-mail.
If a book, journal, or audiovisual you need is checked out, you may place a hold on it so that when it is returned to the Medical Center Library it will be held at the User Services desk for you. You will be notified when it is available.
Contact Genia Kempster if you have questions about placing a hold on library materials or for any questions related to borrowing library materials.
