The University of Kentucky Medical Center Library is a resource library within the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM), Greater Midwest Region (GMR), and a designated outreach library (by the GMR) for the commonwealth of Kentucky.
Designated a Resource Library within the NN/LM
The purpose of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) is to provide healthcare professionals throughout the United States with convenient, rapid access to biomedical resources. As a designated Resource Library within the Greater Midwest Region (GMR), the University of Kentucky Medical Center Library is responsible for assisting the Regional Medical Library of the GMR -- Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago -- with the planning, coordinating, and implementing of regional programs that promote and provide access to medical library resources for all healthcare professionals within the commonwealth of Kentucky.
Designated an Outreach Library for the NN/LM
Additionally, the Medical Center Library has been designated as an Outreach Library in the GMR. As part of its outreach responsibilities the Medical Center Library is actively involved in providing training for healthcare professionals and staffing exhibits at professional healthcare meetings.
