Department Units: Conservation | Preservation Reformatting Center

Established in 1989, the Preservation Department is responsible for the protection and maintenance of the University's library and archival materials in all formats. The Preservation Department promotes this mission with these activities:

  • Conservation Services
  • Reformatting
  • Environmental Monitoring
  • Disaster Preparedness and Response
  • Program Planning and Administration
  • User and Staff Education

The Department's main offices and the Conservation Lab are located in the William T. Young Library. The Preservation Reformatting Center resides in the King Library, South Entrance. Additionally, the Preservation Department serves all 10 University Libraries by collaborating with many de-centralized repair and processing teams.
