Animal Alternatives in Research--Databases and Search Techniques

The Animal Welfare Act Regulations require that a written narrative be provided by the Principle Investigator (PI) to determine whether or not alternatives exist to procedures which may cause pain or distress in animals used for teaching or research. Some of the databases recommended for searching include PubMed, CAB Abstracts, AGRICOLA, BIOSIS, Web of Science among others. Some researchers are required to search several databases.

This class will help you choose the right databases, the terms that may be needed to search and the search strategies for each database.
