Description:

The second edition of the standard Catholic encyclopedia presents persons and subjects related to Catholicism and the humanities. Covers such topics as abortion, divorce, cloning, and reproductive technologies. In addition to the hundreds of new, signed articles on a wide variety of topics, this edition also features biographies of contemporary religious figures, thousands of photos, maps, and illustrations, and updated bibliographical citations.

The Gale Virtual Reference Library also includes the encyclopedia's Jubilee Volume. This supplement focuses on the pontificate of John Paul II and includes thematic essays that present the man and his work. This supplemental volume is also searchable via the main link to the New Catholic Encyclopedia.
