POLICY NO. 19
GUIDELINES FOR OPAC DISPLAY OF INTERNET RESOURCES
(10-05-2000)

History: A subcommittee was appointed to BPPAG to look at how to catalog electronic resources. One of the problems was how to clearly identify electronic resources to our patrons given what was available to us in our local system and in the cataloging rules. The guidelines that follow are the result of much thought and experimentation. These guidelines for Voyager OPAC (INFOKAT) display are to be used for, but not limited to, these INTERNET resources: full-text databases, electronic journals, and Web sites.

I. For monographic and serial resources:

A. INFOKAT location label: INTERNET
B. INFOKAT Call Number label: SEE INTERNET ACCESS

C. INFOKAT Status: No Information Available (this applies to circulation status)

II. Call Number
A call number may be assigned to a bibliographic record as a possible future access point in a call number index browse but will not appear in the OPAC (INFOKAT) displays.
